The History of Roxy’s Music Store
Roxy’s Music Store in Batavia, NY has been serving Western New York musicians for over 80 years. What is now a full-size music store began as an accordion studio in 1934, founded by accordionist Roxy Caccamise. In 2018, the Batavia Concert Band performed the Batavia March, which was originally composed by Roxy Caccamise.
Offering lessons, sales, and repairs, Roxy’s quickly became the hub for accordionists from all over New York. The business quickly transitioned from solely selling accordions to a full-service instrument store offering guitars, drums, pianos, orchestral instruments and much more. Throughout the years, Roxy’s has remained a pillar of the musical community throughout New York and is still one of the few accordion dealers in the state.
The Future of Roxy’s Music Store
Roxy’s daughter Rose Caccamise now owns and manages the music store. She has carried on the tradition started by her father, supplying quality instruments, musical repairs, lessons, and service at competitive prices. After a couple big moves and almost 30 years in the Genesee Country Mall, Roxy’s finally settled in the current location, a 15,500 sq. ft store located at 228 West Main St. in Batavia. This new store front is located between Attica, Leroy, Pembroke, Darien, and just down the street from the I-90. In 2009, Roxy’s Music Store won the prestigious Business of the Year Award from the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce.
